If you want to go shopping for beautiful handmade clothes go to Allum the Hands of Mexico.  It is downtown on Melgar so could be a cab ride depending what pier you are at.  We normally have just been to Cozumel on port days during a cruise but this year decided to actually vacation in Cozumel instead of a cruise and loved it so much have been there 4 different times this year staying a Casa Mexicana or doing a rental.  Our first trip we bought our soon to be daughter in law a beautiful handmade dress from Allum and Luis the owner is so nice and helpful!  We ended up going back our next trip and getting her another dress which had to be made and then shipped directly to us from Merida and we didn't even end up paying for it until we already had it here and were going back in a few weeks so he said just come pay when you are back.  We also bought our son 2 guayaberas to go with her dresses.  Her white dress and his purple guayabera were worn for their rehearsal dinner.

They have ladies dresses and tops, mens guayaberas and some shoes, earrings, purses, etc..  I know on the dresses/tops most are handmade in Merida and the tag shows who made it along with how many hours it took.  It's definitely something you can't find in all the normal tourist shops and a great gift for yourself or someone else.  We were on the Allure last month and took a taxi downtown to walk around and then eat lunch at Cerveceria Punta Sur and stopped in to say Hi and chat with Luis.
