lookingahead Posted March 6, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 6, 2006 This was my first cruise and let me start by saying Carnival's got me thinking about planning another cruise!! I LOVED IT!!!! This vacation was one of the best things that ever happened to me. I want to thank all of you for your great suggestions and helpful info before I left, it made a difference believe me. I was travelling in a group of about 50 people. We spent the night in Orlando prior to the cruise at the Master's Inn....I do not recommend them, and won't stay there again. Enough said, on to the good part. We got to the port about 1 PM, some of us were able to do Skipper's Club, and we got on board pretty quickly. In much less than one hour I was on the Lido deck reclining, with a drink in my hand. Much to my suprise the pools, slide and hot tubs were open!!!:D After a few hours up there, I went exploring and then we met up with the group for dinner. We had the late seating (8PM) in the Jubilee dining room. Our cruise planner was not happy because some of our group had been split up and placed at tables across the room. However, this was rectified the next night. I thought the food was very good. I ate breakfast and lunch at Windows on the Sea, and liked the variety. Nassau, was as described by other people on this forum. I just went shopping. I wanted to go to the Ardastra Gardens, however, my sister and I decided not to go, and we just continued shopping. My daughter went snorkeling and loved it. Came back badly sunburned even though she wore sunscreen. The last night of the cruise the ship was rocking!!! I just went to bed, and slept through it. It really didn't rock much prior to that. Someone asked me to find out a few things for them so here they are: 1. Yes, I have capers and will post them later!! 2. No, there is not a past guest party on the 3 or 4 day cruises on this ship. 3. The Fantasy does not always dock on the same side in the Bahamas. Soooo, there it is..my first review!! Questions??? CTMak Posted March 6, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 6, 2006 Great review for your first time! We were on the Fantasy in January -- on a 4-night cruise. They definately DID have a past guest party on the 4-nighter. Don't know about the 3-nighter. Anyway, glad you enjoyed! CTMak
lookingahead Posted March 6, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted March 6, 2006 I'm glad they had a party on the 4 night cruise, they should:) ! I was just passing on what the purser's desk told me when I asked them. Maybe different personnel pass on different info...don't know. Didn't mean to post incorrect info. peach2320 Posted March 7, 2006 #4 Share Posted March 7, 2006 We were on the 4 day Fantasy this past December and there was no past guest party. Maybe their policy has changed with the new year.
BND Posted March 7, 2006 #5 Share Posted March 7, 2006 We were on the 4 day Fantasy this past Nov and also had a great time. I don't remember anything about past guest party, but since it was my first cruise, I wouldn't have paid much attention. We're going on Glory Eastern this Nov and I can't wait. We started talking about the second cruise during the first one. I only have 7 months to wait. It went fast last year too. We did the cat 11 on Fantasy and have booked cat 11 on Glory. My DH loved Skipper's Club and the escorted boarding we got. We enjoyed the food and our dinner table mates. It's all good.
CTMak Posted March 7, 2006 #6 Share Posted March 7, 2006 Geez guys, now you got me thinking that maybe I was wrong ... that there wasn't a past guest party. Could it be just the Captain's party I was thinking of? There was definately a party (I believe on formal night of the 4-day) where we went to the show lounge the orchestra was playing, people would go up on stage and dance, and free drinks were served. But you guys may be right -- it may not have been a past guest party just a Captain's Party. If so, my apologies. CTMak

WiggleBay Posted March 10, 2006 #8 Share Posted March 10, 2006 lookingahead thanks for the info. if you need to email capers my email is mbolchoz@comcast.net I am glad you had a great time. We are doing research on what to do in the two ports. It was 1990 when we were there last. I know DD &SIL want to snorkel in freeport. We are thinking of renting a car in nassau, being we are there so long. Then we can go see all the different sights. Looking forward to seeing the capers. SIL really wants to see because this will be his first cruise. Thanks again Cheri
