2 nights in Specialty Restaurant

If you had asked me before 2020 I would have included Cagney's as a favorite, but in the 3 cruises since the "re-opening", I have found the quality there to be sadly lacking. This has been on both the Epic and the Getaway.

So, that being said , I would opt for Le Bistro which is a favorite of my husband's for the mushroom soup, the escargots and the filet and for Ocean Blue where my favorite scallops and cioppino can be found.

We have 2 nights of dining in a Specialty Restaurant and have it narrowed down to 3: Cagneys, Ocean Blue & LeBistro. Where do you recommend of the 3 & what is your favorite dish?

We would pick (1) Le Bistro, (2) Ocean Blue (3) Cagney's in that order. Cagney's service and food quality across the fleet has been on a downward spiral since before the pandemic and has not improved much since the restart.

If I were ordering dinner for myself:

Le Bistro: Steak Tartare, Escargot, Veal Chop or Lamb Shank/Chops or Lobster Thermador (extra charge), Poached Pear

Ocean Blue: Ahi Tuna and Avocado Tower, Pan-Seared Scallops on Pork Belly, Grouper, Brussels Sprouts, Mushroom Risotto, Cheesecake in a Jar

Cagney's: Ahi Tuna Tartare, Oysters Rockefeller, Baked Onion Soup, Porterhouse with Yuzu Togarashi Butter, Truffle Fries, Mushrooms, Apple Crisp

1. Cagneys - always excellent and I have been on three ships, Escape, Encore and Bliss this year and the service and food was excellent on all three. Ribeye or Fillet Mignon.

2. Le Bistro - again always excellent - Lamb Chop/Shank or Veal Chop

3. Ocean Blue - not a fish fan (DW is) but any of the fresh fish has always been excellent.

Probably best if you buy another specialty meal and try all three 😜

Enjoy!

I too have been sorely disappointed the last few visits to Cagneys. Has gone from #1 to skip-able. The steaks were good, but could not outweigh the really poor sides. I remember adoring each course there for years and years, but I think Le Bistro and Ocean Blue will be a much better gamble for you now.

For all those who have been disappointed in Cagney's lately, don't be afraid to give it another try. We are recently off the Encore and it was the best Cagney's meal I've had since 2010. Steaks were flavorful, not at all gristley, and cooked perfectly. I was not looking forward to the meal, but it totally redeemed Cagney's for me.

Definitely Ocean Blue, anything we had was delicious.  Then Cagney's and of course steak but forget what kind I had - if they had a New York that would be my choice.  I don't care for Le Bistro so I would go to Tepanyaki as they are always good even though the show needs to be updated.  We go every cruise since we started cruising and it's been the same every time... even though it's still mildly entertaining... needs a refresh. 😴
