rotc Posted March 7, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 7, 2006 My family of 3 and good friends are booked on pride of america for a july 2006 cruise. We are renewing our wedding vows (25th) in Maui. We have never been to Hawaii but have cruised before. I am terrified reading some of the stories about this ship! Do I need to be concerned? Also, how does one go about renting a van or 2 cars in Maui? Any and all help will be most helpful. :)
Rare Host CMLA Posted March 7, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 7, 2006 Visit the ports of call board for tons of information about Hawaii including tour information, car rental information and beach information.

golffore2001 Posted March 9, 2006 #5 Share Posted March 9, 2006 We sailed on 2/4/06. The reviews are worse than the ship. It is a great way to see the islands and the crew is trying. Food was average to below average. Room and service similar to other 6 cruises I have been on. Just think of it as floating hotel and it will be fine. With all you have read it is easy to look for the bad. Don't. Rental cars on all islands except Kona easy to obtain from all major companies. Check prices as they can be wide. Lambchops Posted March 13, 2006 #6 Share Posted March 13, 2006 Don't be alarmed by the bad reviews. We just got back from the 3/4 POAM and had a great time. Ship was great (room was average cruise ship size), food was good (food's a subjective thing though), and staff was friendly and helpful. We had a toilet problem and maintenance was there within 15 minutes to correct, never a problem again. It was a great way to see the islands. We're already planning to go back again. As far as a car, I just rented Thrifty on-line for about $33/day. Their van was at the pair and we had no problems. I did purchase the Maui and Kauai revealed books, which were invaluable for our drives around the islands.
