cruisingforsix Posted January 11, 2023 #1 Share Posted January 11, 2023 Hi , we are going to be staying on the big Island in a couple of weeks and are looking for some restaurants recommendations. This will be our first trip to Hawaii and we are very excited . We want to try good local food, and we eat everything . We aren't picky . We decided to forgo a Luau as they didn't have the best reviews . We are renting a car so we will be able to get around on our own. Thank you
KeepCalmBearOn Posted January 11, 2023 #2 Share Posted January 11, 2023 Where are you staying? Hawaii Island is nicknamed "The Big Island" for a reason.

KeepCalmBearOn Posted January 11, 2023 #4 Share Posted January 11, 2023 So in Kona, Broke Da Mouth Grindz, Umekes Fishmarket, Big Island Grill, Huggo's, Pa'akai Poke (for lunch or takeout), Kona Brewing Co. and Ka'aloa’s Super Js. I think Merriman's in Waimea is the best restaurant on the island. I'd go for lunch or Sunday brunch. The best experience on the island might be the beach bar at the Four Seasons Hualalai. onyx007 Posted March 9, 2023 #6 Share Posted March 9, 2023 For Hilo I can recommend "The Pineapples" and at street food corner at the market there is a great Poke place

cccole Posted September 6 #8 Share Posted September 6 Lava Lava in Waikoloa is always on our list. Easy if you have a car. Also, if you are going to Pu'ukohola Heiau, a National Historic Site, in Kawaihee, the Seafood Bar and Grill is awesome. Cherie
