We are sailing on Celebrity Summit to Hawaii for our 25th anniversary on April 23 and are looking for recommendations for a hotel in the area. We are renting a car from Apr 20-23 so we don't need to be right in San Pedro area but want to do some sightseeing. Anyone have any good ideas for a place with reasonable rates?

Question asked hundreds of times before - suggest you search on 'san pedro' and then on 'long beach' to find several possibilities!

I will be sailing out of San Pedro on Celebrity this December and I've done a lot of research on hotels in this area.

It seems that Long Beach is the place to stay. I booked the Courtyard Marriott in Long Beach for $139 Sr. discount rate. I will then take a taxi or shuttle to the San Pedro pier from the hotel. I will also be flying into Long Beach not Los Angeles airport.

I found that the hotels in San Pedro did not get very good reviews so I decided to book in Long Beach. Since I'm not renting a car but staying two days pre cruise, I wanted an area where I can do things. Long Beach has more to do.

On the web go to the Long Beach Visitors Bureau and you will find out info there. I had them send me a guide, but I researched my hotel on other cruise sites and trip adivisor before decided on the Marriott.

Hope this helps.

There is a Holiday Inn Express near the pier area in San Pedro. If you are only spending one night and do not want to spend the taxi fare from LB to the pier (about $25) the H.I. may be your best bet. There is also a recently remodeled Crowne Plaza (H.I. chain) - it was the former Sheraton. If it were me and I was not staying several nights pre-cruise I'd just go with a place close to the pier.
