MSC for Me App questions

Hi All,

 

I'll be on the Meraviglia in a couple weeks, and this is the first ship I've been on that supports the MSC for Me app, so I have a couple questions:

 

1. How critical is it to use the app while onboard?

2. Does the app require that you have the purchased WiFi package?

 

I do have the one-device package, but I had planed to use it with my PC, rather than my phone.

There's not really anything that you absolutely need the app for, but for example you can see what the dining room menus are for the rest of the cruise. And reserve restaurants, shows, excursions etc., without having to go anywhere or call anyone. And you don't have to carry around the daily program because it's all in the app (but if you're going ashore, do take the program with you!)

 

You can connect to the ship's wifi for free and use all the functions of the app (and scan the QR codes for bar menus). But you won't have internet access unless you purchase an internet package.

It worked well for our party of 5.  We could text each other where we were on the ship to meet up.  I have an older phone, so some of the features did not work for me.

We liked being able to see events and menus.  We felt the messaging app worked ok 50% of the time

Really not used much but it will geo fence you on the deck plans.
