yogimax Posted February 2, 2023 #1 Share Posted February 2, 2023 We have to cancel an existing non-refundable cruise before final payment. Is there any advantage to transfering the booking to a new cruise (ship and date) while canceling the old one? Thanks!

If you booked after they introduced the rule that you lose the whole deposit when you cancel, and your deposit was more than $100 pp, you'd be better to transfer to a new cruise as that would only cost you the $100 pp penalty. Just make sure that the new one is one that you will most likely go on. If you booked before that rule came into effect or if it's a Next Cruise booking with just the $100 pp deposit you might as well cancel and be done with it as the loss will be the same as the penalty anyway. ETA: Although, on second thoughts, if it's a Next Cruise booking your OBC transfers with you so if you know for sure you'd be going on the new cruise you might want to think about transferring rather than cancelling. If the original cruise was booked prior to June 1 then you can cancel and get a FCC for everything after they deduct the $100 pp fee. If it was booked after June 1 then you lose the entire deposit if you cancel...no FCC. If you move then there is a $100 pp change fee and the rest is applied to the new reservation
