Booking on Board

If I book a cruise on board, and have it sent to my travel agent, does his commission stay the same as if I booked direct through him.

Whether you book on board first, or perhaps, book directly with Viking when home and then transfer the booking....the commission is the same.

If you used your travel agent for booking the cruise, Viking will automatically transfer the new booking to your TA

Besides a discount on the cruise you book, you’ll get an onboard credit for your current cruise (which can only be used before you disembark, but it can be used for gratuities).

While not unheard of booking from home at times, we also had the final payment due set at 6 mos before cruise as an onboard exclusive.

Thanks!  I'm definitely planning on waiting till we are onboard.  If I can get the final payment delayed that's a big benefit.  I really hate having to pay if full 1-2 years out.

If you have an existing Viking booking and you book a new cruise - at home, not on board - you can get the 6 month payment option.  You have to have at least one booked cruise to get this.  Viking don't always just give this to you without asking.  It is on our list of points to check before we let the reservation agent off the phone.  We have had to wait for supervisor approval more than once.

 

For this reason, we never go on a cruise - if the only one booked - without a future cruise booked as well.  This is especially easy and cheap to do when the $25 deposit is in place.

 

Also, this option may not be for every country.
