Strict about check in times?

I am doing a B2B starting Sunday.

My DS will be joining me for the 2nd leg in MIA next Friday.

His check in time says 3PM (which seems like a crazy check in time with a 6PM ship departure).

He has to check out of his hotel at 11; no idea what he would do with luggage for 4 hours other than perhaps hang at the hotel pool or bar....

Is MSC (at MIA) sticklers about check in times?

Thx

If he gets there around 11:00, he should not have to wait too long to board.  3:00 seems to be the place holder that MSC has been using since COVID, but they usually change the time to a more realistic one closer to the date.
