1Virgo Posted February 18, 2023 #1 Share Posted February 18, 2023 we have used FBC multiple times, and until now, only had praise. Their prices were great. Service great Not this time!. Flying out of Canada to Miami and after repositioning cruise, flying from a different port home. FBC agent, when I said I did not want standard economy but pay for upgraded class, said couldnt be done. ( I had looked online and there were seats that included in the air fare, seat selection and baggage. ). On a page from FBC, it said I had to call Air Canada directly to do and pay for seat selection. Once the tickets issued, I pulled up our reservation on AC website. All prices for seat selection now in US currency. Cruise paid for in Canadian. Air Canada said FBC changed the currency to US. After a very long time, AC agent able to bypass and do seat selection in Canadian dollars but I needed to have FBC rectify Called FBC to verify Canadian and get changed to Canadian on file. Oh, this agent said he could upgrade my seat. But I ve already paid for seat selection. He confirmed everything in Canadian Today, logged into AC and it is still showing US dollars. My baggage fees, leaving from Canada have US $ charge. AC says FBC needs to fix. Called FBC, asked to speak to supervisor. She was very condescending and rude. If I had booked flights myself through Air Canada I would have saved us about $400. ( and before I get jumped on, Having grown up with parent working for airline, bro, friends agents and ex was a pilot, I know how the system works) We are very disappointed. So if you are departing from Canada, watch the currency

So if you are departing from Canada, watch the currency Simple rule - FBC is not always cheaper. Especially with Air Canada. Today with prices changing daily you actually never know. FBC would usually book in USD unless told differently. Remember FBC is NOT a travel agent. They are a consolidator. We booked with FBC and made sure no change fees. Were able to get a fare reduction. Not piling on, but with an airline background in the family and all the recent issues with FBC on Cruise Critic - Especially seat selection issues - just wondering. If only a couple hundred $$ I would cancel. If not cost to cancel would have already done so. In a long prior thread FBC said that changes would take a week or longer if not flying soon. I would have cancelled FBC booking but had paid for seat selection via AC. . If I cancelled, that portion I would have lost $$$$. 2. FBC books “flights in the currency your cruise was paid in.”. Ours, Canadian. Everything should have stayed Canadian. I suspect their agent did not do a multi city routing, but did a one way from US to Canada which would have shown US dollars, then she converted to bill my account in Canadian. But the US designation stayed ….As you know, one always pays more for a one way trip vs round trip. 3. because I do understand how things work, I checked pricing. Only reason I called, their website kept changing my airport departure to UK. had that happen before and online, a pain, so I called 4. Had no previous issues with FBC previously and had not looked on CC for issues. In the past, I couldn’t get a better rate than they had. I ve learned my lesson
