B2Bcruise, but different staterooms,different deck

You pack your luggage and leave it in your initial stateroom.  Your cabin steward will know you’re B2B, but I always print luggage tags for cruise #2 and put them on my bags anyway.  The cabin steward takes your luggage to your new stateroom.  All the B2B cruisers meet in a designated location, and once all the other cruisers have exited the ship, they escort you off, then through customs/immigration and right back on the ship.  Your new sail and sign card is issued at the meeting place.

You will receive full instructions in your stateroom 1-2 days before the first cruise ends, including the procedure if you want to get off the ship and return later.  They make everything very easy.  Last month I had a bottle of “champagne” and some cookies waiting in my room for being B2B.

This! I just did a B2B last month and the hotel director onboard had mimosas waiting for us once we got back from customs, and I had a fruit basket and champagne in my new room. It was a nice surprise! We also took a group picture, which everyone got a copy of.

And nwcruiselover already covered everything else. My room steward from my first room stopped by to see how many bags would be moved and let me know when he was going to pick them up. I got instructions the last night of the first cruise with where to meet, what to bring (passport or whatever travel docs you're using), and what to expect. I also received a transit pass in case I wanted to completely disembark and come back later (I'm guessing this speeds up the re-embarkation process when you return to the ship, but I chose to stay onboard and enjoy the empty ship for awhile - it was both eerie and peaceful!) At the meeting spot, we had coffee, tea, juice, and pastries available while we were waiting.

Enjoy! I loved the B2B and would definitely do it again 🙂

The replies here have covered pretty much everything I experienced on my recent first-time B2B, where we also had to switch cabins. We packed everything up at the end of the first cruise, tagged it with the new room number, and our steward from the first cabin coordinated the move of our stuff to the new cabin. In our case, she called the new steward on the phone and had him come to the room to move our stuff.

I'll add, if you're planning to do laundry, I suggest waiting until the first or second night of the second cruise -- you'll have the laundry room to yourself as the majority of folks will have just boarded and won't be washing clothes.

Also, you'll want to make sure your cruises are linked as B2B. If you booked with a PVP it should already be done, or you can call customer service to attempt to have them do it. It isn't a horrible idea either to stop by guest services during a slow time on the first cruise to verify that they show you as B2B.

When we did a B2B I made sure our room attendant knew we would be moving rooms and he made sure our room was ready when we had to be out of our first room. Can't remember the exact times but there was a time gap on when we had to be out of our room and when we met to go thru customs again. We did not have to leave the ship, they had custom agents come onto the ship.

My upcoming B2B is in Europe, from the port of Dover.  I hope to leave the ship to visit Dover Castle on the turnaround day.   Has anyone been through the process at Dover?

I booked the 2 cruises at different times, but with the same travel agent. I will make sure she has them linked as B2B.  Despite booking at different times, I lucked out and got the same cabin for both cruises.   First time back on a ship since 2019.  VERY excited!

Is this different depending on the ship or there was a change this year?

I had a bottle of champagne and a fruit basket on the Valor last year.

I have gotten Champaign and a fruit basket on earlier cruises, but on Panorama in January it was cookies.  Maybe they were short on fruit.

I can’t tell you how long it will take in Rome.  My most recent B2B was in Long Beach.  I would not have made a 9:00 - 9:30 excursion.  We were escorted off the ship after all other passengers were already off. I would suggest speaking to Guest Services early in your first cruise to see about getting off separately from the other B2B cruisers so you can meet the excursion.

From what I've been told, the gifts are not a guarantee and are up to the hotel director on the ship. But it seems to be pretty common and is definitely a nice touch!

How long does this process take? I want to go into Rome on my b2b. The shore excursion meet up is at 9-9:30am. Will I have enough time to make my excursion?

I am guessing here, but I don't think they escort B2B guests off until they have cleared the ship of other passengers first. If the ship is delayed back to port for some reason, it can delay this process as well. I'd stop by guest services and see if they can answer this question for you.
