Which hotels would you recommend in San Juan that are close to the pier and which ones are in Old San Juan? I have to ask these questions as I think of them, otherwise I'll forget.

Our favorite is the Wyndam Old San Juan right across from the pier. A little on the expensive side, but a nice hotel with a bar, small casino, restaurant and a rooftop pool. That's a great place to look out over the harbor and see any cruiseships that may be docked. It's also a great base from which to explore Old San Juan.

I agree. The Old San Juan is a wonderful hotel. I stayed there two nights several years ago, and didn't want to leave.

We stayed at the Old San Juan 15 years ago for three nights after our Honeymoon cruise. It's nice to hear it's still there. It was wonderful - the rooms were great, they had a fun pool with swim up bar and we just loved everything about it. It was costly then, I'm sure it still is, but it was soooo worth it.

Got the Wyndham in Old San Juan for July 11th for $65 from Priceline. Happy to read that many were happy with it.
