Pam in CA Posted March 10, 2006 #4 Share Posted March 10, 2006 It's called supply and demand. Speaking in generalities, the demand for a new ship will command higher fares and rarely discount. I doubt they have any plans already in place to reduce their pricing or offer discounts. We can all dream, but the discounts and special promotions are usually for cruises that aren't full and they anticipate less than a full complement of passengers. You'll frequently see postings on this board about cruises a year or more in advance that are full.
Mmm...coffee! Posted March 10, 2006 #5 Share Posted March 10, 2006 Unless you are lucky enough to find a last-minute cancellation, I think those New York-based cruises are going to be very popular and will be able to command a higher price versus home ports like Florida or San Juan. There is such a huge population that can avoid flying by sailing out of New York that they are still ahead even if they pay a bit of a premium for their cruise. Happy hunting!
