We are going to Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlán, Cabo San Lucas 

 

What port would be the best to go on a self guided hike that is easy to get to as well not to hard since we have a 6 year old with us

Mazatlan the hike to and up to El Faro Lighthouse. (This might be too much in the warmer months). Or maybe urban hiking along the blue line. 
 

PV take a taxi and walk the length of the Malecon.

There is this viewpoint close to the center in Puerto Vallarta. It means getting up on many steps, but it is worth it. However do it as early in the morning as possible as it might get too hot. Bring water!

Take a cab to get to the bottom at Abasolo, . Cabs in the terminal charge person, outside per ride. Always make your price before entering. The same for the return or take a bus back (10 Pesos each) that says e.g.  aeropuerto, ixtapa. It stops close to the cruise terminal.
