Cpt Pugwash Posted March 16, 2023 #1 Share Posted March 16, 2023 I will be travelling on the Iona next month and was wondering if anyone can tell me if there is anywhere on any of the decks facing forward with out that six foot plastic getting in the way. The last time i visited the Fjords was on the Azura before they started to erect those plastic safety barriers and took a couple of days to find out there was a walkway that went all the way round if you walked between the windbreakers. Thanks.
Rare Host Sharon Posted March 16, 2023 #2 Share Posted March 16, 2023 Good luck. It appears even the sides of the prom deck have it on Iona & Arvia.
Advanced Diver Posted March 16, 2023 #3 Share Posted March 16, 2023 Very few places facing forward to take photos. If you go to the front of the prom deck, that is clear of sheeting because it directly overlooks the crew deck, rather than the sea. That may suffice, depending on if you can use your camera zoom to crop out the crew deck and bow, or if you get at the side of that bit. Not a great ship for photography (looking forward), or in that respect sail in's in general. The stern of the ship is better.
Advanced Diver Posted March 16, 2023 #4 Share Posted March 16, 2023 Here's a view of the front to show what I mean, plus some views of the sail out in Lisbon to show you can avoid it too.

Thanks for that i have 2 Zoom Lenses and i have a bendy tripod with a sucker on the end of it so if i can find a flat surface i can video from there as i can turn the viewfinder round to see what i'm videoing then chop it to pieces later. P.S Hope you enjoyed Lisbon went there years ago got about 200 yds from terminal and the rain came down very hard. 😞
