coaster Posted April 19, 2023 #1 Share Posted April 19, 2023 (edited) Saw this video circulating a few days ago. Did not know it got over 7 million views until now. Have seen lots of blogger videos lately and they seem to all mention that the ship was basically just 'painted over' and little was spent to refurbish the ship. Shame as I usually only go on older ships at least 20 years old as they are smaller than the 'floating hotel' ships of today. Makes you wonder if Jimmy just will just license the Margaritaville brand to anyone who offers him cash. https://www.insider.com/margaritaville-cruise-tiktok-the-spirit-airlines-of-the-sea-2023-4?utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook&utm_campaign=business-sf&fbclid=IwAR2udaUEWctblwq0MaDarrpRApoZcTN5ADuaj7Q8-dggZTEeR67FA0qOvnI Edited April 19, 2023 by coaster
KINGBOBOFTHENORTH Posted April 20, 2023 #2 Share Posted April 20, 2023 Nearly the entire ship was refurbished. Cabins had new carpet, wall coverings and furniture installed. The ship's public areas were all redone. So much more than simply being "painted over".
Rothko1 Posted April 20, 2023 #3 Share Posted April 20, 2023 Here's the thing about this line (and Spirit Airlines as well): You need to know what you are going into, and temper your expectations accordingly. People who think they are spending $300 for a 2 night cruise and are anticipating a Seabourn-style cruise to St. Barts are going to be gravely disappointed.
pr8hd Posted April 21, 2023 #4 Share Posted April 21, 2023 Thought this was going to be another 'nickle and diming' plaint. Ooops. 🤣 Rothco is dead right. You can't expect the Westin at Best Western prices. .
DarthGrady Posted April 21, 2023 #5 Share Posted April 21, 2023 I've taken a few cruises with this company starting with the old Bahamas Paradise, then Grand Celebration and this ship before the re-brand. I agree with Rothko, as long as you look at it for what it is (a reasonably priced quick getaway) and accept that she is not the biggest/newest/nicest ship then you'll enjoy yourself.
