dst Posted April 24, 2023 #1 Share Posted April 24, 2023 Experienced cruisers here but never out of San Pedro (we are on Navigator) in August. We want to fly in/out of John Wayne (SNA), trying to avoid LAX. With that said - is it a good choice to fly into John Wayne? How far is it to the port, will we make a 12:00 pm flight after the cruise? Is transportation easy to find outside of the port, after the cruise? Can anyone recommend a hotel for the night before the cruise? Thanks
gottagoacruzn Posted April 24, 2023 #2 Share Posted April 24, 2023 You bet!!! Have you tried flyin into Long Beach airport? Its awhole lot better than l a x. You might want to try the Crown plaza in San Pedro. Think, but I could be wrong, the long beach airport is a half hr from the pier, maybe an hr from john wayne airport. Those who also will answer might tell you the same thing. Right guys?

Thanks a bunch - we were hoping to try for Long Beach airport however, American does not fly into LB any more and we fly American (we have status so hard to give up). I'll look up that hotel - thanks
KeepCalmBearOn Posted April 25, 2023 #4 Share Posted April 25, 2023 Yes flying into John Wayne is a good idea and yes you will make a 12PM flight. Crowne Plaza San Pedro or DoubleTree San Pedro. Depending on traffic, SNA is 35-45 minutes from the World Cruise Center. Unless the cruise docks at 3PM on a Friday, then it is 90 minutes. Thank you, the cruise is a Friday but we are coming in a day early. For the hotel, thank you, how far is either of them; it’s difficult to tell on the websites. We will likely Uber to the ship. The Crowne Plaza is walkable to the ship at just less than a mile, the DoubleTree is closer to 3 miles. Both hotels have shuttles.

ATSEAMYLIFE Posted April 29, 2023 #8 Share Posted April 29, 2023 Prebook your Uber a day or two before. We did the Navigator in July and stayed at the Doubletree parking our car and taking Uber to the port. Uber gets really busy when the ships comes in. We walked right off and found our Uber in a few minutes. There were people at the curb who told me they had been waiting 20 minutes for their Uber and some had gotten canceled while waiting. The Doubletree had a shuttle but it's first come first serve and was booked full when we got in the night before. If you have the internet package on the ship just RSVP on the Uber app while you're returning the day before. There were also several taxis parked down a little way from where we came out of the terminal.

marden1970 Posted April 29, 2023 #10 Share Posted April 29, 2023 We've stayed at the Doubletree twice in the past 6 months. My hubby has some mobility issues and has a little difficulty getting into their shuttle so we asked the front desk to book us a taxi for the morning of the cruise, which they did. Cab was there on time and it's just a short ride to the terminal. If you're there a day early, their shuttle will take you to shopping or restaurants if you want. A good restaurant is the 22nd St Landing which is walkable if you are able. (a little pricey but good). There is also a restaurant in the hotel for breakfast and dinner.
