Cinque Terre tour from La Spezia

We will be a group of 15-20 family members arriving on MSC cruise line on Tuesday, July 11, in La Spezia.  How do we get from the cruise ship to the train in La Spezia on our own?  I am thinking we would probably just have time to visit Monterosso, spend the day at the beach, and then get back on the train.  OR is it better to go to Porto Venere or Santa Margarita.  If so, how would we get there?  Any help you can give would be appreciated.  Our grandkids range in age from 2.5-20.  Grazie.

It will be nearly impossible to keep a group this large together on the trains, which are wildly overcrowded, especially in the summer.

I encourage you to reconsider and look into the ferry for transportation, which is capacity controlled (the regional trains are not).  Also, the ferry port is an easy walk (about 650 meters/four-tenths of a mile) from the cruise terminal while the train station is a bit further away (about 2 km/one and a quarter miles).

Also, note that the "beach" is very small and reservations will be required, I would look into that as soon as the beach concessions open for the season.  Fegina rentals info:  Cosa Offriamo - Bagni Fegina - Stabilimento Balneare Monterosso Al Mare - Cinque Terre
