We are a group of 8 and some want open dining, is it easy enough to get a table for 8 just walking in?  We’re on the Crown Princess

Probably,  as you'd fill a table used for sharing. I'd make reservations each day as you leave for the next day or a standing reservation if you are able to eat at the same time every day.

Just "walking up" with no reservations *might* be an issue...but I tend to agree with @cjpj ...it sounds good in theory that they would accomodate you...but I'd also say that the timing would play a big part in success or lack of.

We have had tables for 8 and 10 on multiple cruises. Make sure to link all of your companions on the app and make reservations for the group on the app.  Once onboard, I always have a conversation with the restaurant manager to confirm our group table prior to our dining time.
