tfg Posted May 11, 2023 #1 Share Posted May 11, 2023 (edited) Hi I'm looking for the nicest beach to go to in August in Majorca last time we were there we went to illetas, but I hear that can get really crowded. Ideally looking for uncommercialised beach. Any recommendations appreciated.tia Edited May 11, 2023 by tfg Spelling
edinburgher Posted May 12, 2023 #2 Share Posted May 12, 2023 (edited) Your question may already have been answered on the sticky below which you can search to avoid reading through every page. That failing, rogerb keeps a close oeye on posts to that thread so you should post your question there .https://boards.cruisecritic.co.uk/topic/2697012-palma-de-mallorca-diy-new/page/16/#comment-65338138 However, you said Ideally looking for uncommercialised beach, also went to illetas, but I hear that can get really crowded. Quite frankly I think you are being unrealistic. Pointing out that, based in the UK/Southampton area, you must surely be aware that the month of August is the main holiday month across most of Europe with millions on the move and on vacation. With August ,also usually the hottest, month, the chances of finding a quiet uncrowded beach on a popular holiday island are possibly close to zero. From our experiences and observations, beaches can be really busy from early morning, and at weekends when locals head there too, they can be already crowded by 0800.or earlier. Rare Harters Posted May 12, 2023 #4 Share Posted May 12, 2023 If you're happy to go to the northwest of the island, you'll find almost deserted stretches of beach between Puerto Pollensa and Puerto Alcudia. Near to the towns is as busy and touristy as anywhere else on the island but in the middle you could very easily be on your own. It's a lovely spot and I enjoy walking along the beach there. But whether it's worth the schlep is entirely another question.
edinburgher Posted May 12, 2023 #5 Share Posted May 12, 2023 (edited) Thank you for your reply but there is no need to be rude There was no rudeness anywhere in my reply, as I was only pointing out the obvious which you appeared to be unaware of, but it appears that there may indeed be some quiet spots should you be prepared to travel to them, so I apologise for suggesting that your chances would be close to zero when they may be a little higher than that. And neither do I think it was rude of me to refer you to the dedicated Majorca sticky for potential info from rogerb. Rare Harters Posted May 12, 2023 #7 Share Posted May 12, 2023 It's about an hour's drive. I've only driven from the airport whihc is about 45 minutes, so I've added a bit for the city centre traffic.

Mark Da Posted May 20, 2023 #10 Share Posted May 20, 2023 The illetes beach is not nicer then any other beach on the island. it is more just another beach on the island with lots of tourists. Like Poster HARTER says, you can find more empty long streched beaches in the east. There are some bays worth visiting in the West around Sant Elm, Cala d'en Monjo, Cala Fornells, Cala Marmassen....etcetera but to get there is more complicated. In general July and for sure august the island is packed on the beaches as it is the only natural way to cool down from the blistering heat.

Whilst I was not saying Illetas Beach is the nicest it is easy to get to even by public transport it is safe and has facilities and life guards. The beach you have mentioned in your post are impossible to get to without hiring a car for the day and are 1 hr from the cruise port. St Elm has a very small beach and is the only one there(very crowded) Cala d'en Monjo very difficult to find ,1 mile from the parking lot and is a nudist beach. Cala Fornalles tiny beach and is very crowded in July and August. Cala Marrmassen no Beach, rocky shore line and no facilities at all. Other beaches that one could look at that are within 15/30 mins of the cruise terminal are : Cala Mayor , Palma Nova or Magaluf .
