New Jersey hotel recs needed

We're planning a Canada/New England cruise that sails from Bayonne this fall.  We'd like to spend a couple days in Manhattan before the cruise so we'd like to find a hotel in New Jersey that is close to public transportation into Manhattan. We're looking for a mid-price property with some dining nearby.  Any recommendations?

Hotels in Jersey City will provide spectacular views of lower Manhattan with fastest and easiest transit to NYC via PATH trains. Hoboken and Weehawken NJ hotels are also close to NYC.

 

Downtown Newark hotels are close to the Iron bound section, known for its Portuguese and Spanish cuisine. Transit to NYC via PATH or NJ Transit trains.

Westin Jersey City (if you have Marriott points you can usually get a fabulous deal).
