We're going on the Into the Midnight Sun cruise next month.  I've read that Viking provides shuttle bus service into the center of town in some ports.  I haven't seen any listing of ports that this service is provided.  Hoping someone has been on Viking cruises to these ports and can add some information.

We'll be in the following ports:

1. Greenwich (London)

2. Newhaven Harbour (Edinburgh)

3. Kirkwell (Orkney Islands)

4. Lerwick (Shetland Islnads)

5. Honningsvag, Norway

6. Tromso, Norway

7. Leknes (Lofoten), Norway

8. Geiranger, Norway

9. Bergen, Norway

Would greatly appreciate information on which of these ports have the shuttle busses.

Thank you,

Tim

There is a shuttle bus every 30 minutes, currently to and from Charlotte Square, and running on the hour and half hour from each end: https://goo.gl/maps/XZevtbup8GUuNX329?coh=178572&entry=tt

It usually takes 15-20 minutes, but up to 30 if the traffic is very heavy.

We did this cruise last year.
Kirkwall, Tromso and Bergen are all walkable from the dock.

There was a bus in Leknes but very little to see/do in the town.

I don’t remember a shuttle in Greenwich but you are close to public transport. We missed Leknes due to high winds and Gerainger wasn’t on our itinerary..

Hope this helps.
It’s a fabulous cruise

We did this fabulous cruise last June.  This was one of the best trips we ever did.  We had to be tendered in several ports and I don’t recall any shuttles.  I did the included tour on Orkney Islands and then shopped.  There are terrific jewelry artists and shops close to port.  We missed Shetland Islands due to weather There is also a whisky made on the Orkney Islands.  There is so much history.
I would do this trip again…so much to see and so little time in each port.

Greenwich is immediately adjacent to Docklands light Rail trams which will take you across the river to Canary Wharf where you connect to the Elizabeth Line or the Jubilee Line into London.  fast eady and convenient.  Or stay in Greenwich eher you can visit the Observatory and the Fan museum.  Sadly, the Fan museum does not do afternoon tea anymore.  There is sn excellent museum in Docklands is you do not want to venture into London core

We did the Midnight Sun cruise on Venus last July.

1. Greenwich - tender dock is right in town.  Easy to walk around.

2. Edinburgh - had to take a tender. Viking provided shuttles back and forth to town

3. Kirkwell - docked away from town. Viking provided shuttles.

4. Lerwick - docked a couple miles from town. Viking provided shuttles.

5. Honningsvag - docked in town.  Easy to walk around.  Town not very large though.

6. Tromso - docked a couple miles from town. Viking provided shuttles.

7. Leknes - docked a couple miles from town. Viking provided shuttles.

8. Geiranger (we went to Olden instead and tendered)

9. Bergen - Viking's home port. They dock right in town. Easy walk to everything.

Hope this helps!  We were lucky and made every port.  (No weather cancellations)
