Travelling2Some Posted May 24, 2023 #1 Share Posted May 24, 2023 I am wondering if there has been any history (last summer's sailings?) of restrictions or extra taxes being charged on NCL's Baltic cruises? We are on the Dawn's June 13th (Copenhagen to Stockholm) and all of the countries we will visit are EU members. Given NCL's recent behavior, I am concerned we will encounter issues like the recent UK ports debacle. Considering canceling my FAS package as I don't want to pay $400 for nothing. Rare insidecabin Posted May 24, 2023 #2 Share Posted May 24, 2023 None on Getaway last year round trip Copenhagen. With NCL new policies that may have changed like it did with the UK.
Travelling2Some Posted May 24, 2023 Author #3 Share Posted May 24, 2023 Thanks. I know there was precedent last year in Italy and Greece and we experienced it ourselves in Gibraltar (NO alcohol) and Spain (additional taxes). One of the "excuses" that has been given is that the extra taxes apply when the entire itinerary is EU countries. That would be true of Baltic cruises now that they no longer include Russia. I'm not so much concerned about taxes. That's annoying but not expensive (although I guess it would add up over 10 days). Just wondering if closed bars in Europe on NCL ships are going to be a problem going forward. As things stand, I already would be put off from booking NCL for Greece or Italy.
Viajera7 Posted May 25, 2023 #4 Share Posted May 25, 2023 I was on a Baltic cruise on the Dawn last June. I didn’t buy alcohol but bought merchandise from Tradewinds and they charged extra taxes giving the same excuse. If they do it with the regular merchandise, they probably do it with the alcohol.
