Flybus to Keflavik

How long before an international flight do you need to be at Keflavik airport? I’ve heard 2 hours and I’ve also heard 3 hours. 
 

We will be taking the Flybus to Keflavik airport for a flight on Icelandair to Boston @ 5:10PM.
 

There are two Flybus times that depart the BSI Bus Terminal to Keflavik that will get us there before our flight…

 

Departs Reykjavik - 12:30PM 

Arrives at Keflavik - 1:15PM

Departs Reykjavik - 2PM 

Arrives at Keflavik - 2:45PM

We are trying to decide which Flybus to book, the 12:30PM or the 2PM. We will need to check-in (drop our bags), go through security and passport control. 
 

I’m leaning towards the 12:30PM bus but curious what others would do.

From Keflavík Airport web:

”We kindly request that you arrive at the airport 2.5 to 3 hours before your scheduled departure time for a smooth check-in process.”

 

I would take the 2 pm bus for a 5:10 pm departure - however, since all flights to US depart almost at the same time check-in and security will be busy. For sure with arrival at 1:15 very few people at the airport bur also 4 hours at the airport - not that much to do - maybe a lunch.
