when you come through the doors all of the tour guides are lined up to pick people up. Many of them are holding up signs with a list of names of the people they’re picking up. I requested my name not be on a sign, so mine has the company name azoean tours.

I had a hard time finding a tour company that would allow me to book 1 person. Also a lot of the tour hours at other places didn’t seem to match up with ship hours. I didn’t find this company on a tour search I actually found it here on a CC thread.

 

It’s a small group. It was just me and a couple. The four of us went in a Mercedes.

This is our tour guide. He contracts

out to different tour companies but mostly works with this company.

This is their smallest beach. Like we saw in St. Kitts they have darker sand because of the volcanos.

 

 

This is kind of their medium sized beach. We’ll see the biggest beach at the end.

This is Vila Franca which was their first capitol. They are setting up for a party. All parties have fireworks..in part to let people know where the party is at.

They are famous for their bananas here. Also pineapples it mostly bananas.

Next

stop was at this church. Each step represents a bead on the rosary.

We’re going to see a lot of cows today. Milk is a big industry here. They provide most of the milk in Portugal

Wow, that's surprising. I wonder why that is?! As a solo traveler myself, i'd be a bit offended but i'm glad you found one that accommodated you.

The next stop is lake furnas. The church on the other side is the church of the victory

Next stop was a place that makes cheese and candy. The couple bought a block of cheese. I wasn’t in the market for cheese. The cheese is made with the hot spring Water we’re about to get to.

They did let us sample all of the cheeses. They were good. I liked the soft spreadable one the best. They have 21 day, 2 month, and 2 1/2 month cheeses

Next we are gong to the furnas volcano which is the main reason I booked this tour.

This leaf has a smell when you hit it.

I think it’s ginger.

They put them in the pineapple greenhouses to keep bugs out
