Advice on Traveling with an Ostomy

Recommended Posts

This will be our first cruise with my DH sailing with an Ostomy (and flying International).  I am just looking for any advice.  We plan to bring more than enough supplies  (carry and packed).  I checked out Ostomry.org helpful hints to have a base to start from.  We will be sailing through Scandinavia on Celebrity.

Airline bathrooms are notoriously very tiny and difficult for an ostomy wearer.   I suggest your DH have a small zip lock bag and use that if needed and can be put in the trash in the plane bathroom.   Best to try to avoid having to use the airline bathroom if possible.

Once on the ship you can ask for a special bag to dispose of the ostomy pouch (they are red hazard type bags  - a little large but useful).   The air sickness bags on the plane are also handy to have on hand for the plane and on the ship to dispose of the used pouch.

Always bring more supplies than you think will be needed.   Hope you both enjoy the cruise.
