papafred Posted June 26, 2023 #1 Share Posted June 26, 2023 I’m new to MSC, booked on the Meriveglia 7/16 out of Brooklyn and applied to become member of Voyagers Club. First, took forever to get on the Club site and process thru completion. After booking I became aware of the affinity match program and applied but was rejected. So today I was surprised when looking on the Voyagers Club site, I have Gold status and 4300 points. Have no idea where that came from. Questions: will my cruise card be “ gold status” and will my Voyagers Club number be on it? Should I try to get the 5 % discount retroactive? Is there an actual membership card? If not, how will staff know I have “gold” status? Appreciate any comments or suggestions. Thanks
Brighton Line Posted June 26, 2023 #2 Share Posted June 26, 2023 (edited) I just posted this on another thread. I and wife, the only person I sailed with ever (1995 Honeymoon cruise on) matched to Gold. Upon check-in, I was blue basic and she was silver. Good thing I had the match email and took a screenshot of the webpage used to have the Concierge (I was in the yacht club) to change us both to gold. Took him 20 minutes on the ship's PC and also on his phone to another MSC system to perform the change. He said it is best to get new cards as this will be proof of our status. Of course, new cards mean the old ones won't work so that entails your YC wristband needed to be updated. In case you get a different card when you check in, bring along the proof you are gold, a screenshot or a letter and go to customer service once on board and have it changed. Don't do it the first day, they will be swamped. And if they say the shoreside has to make the change, I would insist on them doing it Edited June 26, 2023 by Brighton Line

jame_g Posted June 26, 2023 #4 Share Posted June 26, 2023 Make sure the VC number is associated with your booking. If it isn't, call and have it added. I have to do this on every reservation to get my spouse's VC info added as the MSC website doesn't let me update that field for the other passenger info for some reason. PDXer2 Posted June 26, 2023 #5 Share Posted June 26, 2023 The same thing happened to me on my first MSC cruise last year, I applied and never heard from them. When I contacted reservations and asked about the status match, they applied the appropriate discounts to my reservation. Give them a call. CruiseCruiseAndMoreCruise Posted July 1, 2023 #6 Share Posted July 1, 2023 When I called to ask if they'd apply the discount I was told they can (or will) only do it if you haven't made your final payment yet. Since my first payment was also my final payment, no discount!

Since my first payment was also my final payment, no discount! Call back again and try to get a different rep...that sometimes works. You might also try to cancel and rebook if you aren't in penalty phase. That being said, in general, always wait until the last moment to make final payment. Prices went up enough that I wouldn't rebook it. I didn't make payments on this cruise, so the first payment was the last.
