jdvmd Posted March 15, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 15, 2006 Need song suggestions for a cruising CD. I remember there being a thread a very long time ago pertaining to this but I cannot locate it. People made suggestions like "Sitting by the Dock of the Bay," "Cruisin," "Red, Red Wine," various Jimmy Buffett songs etc. It was amazing how many songs people suggested. Any help would be appreciated. I am trying to burn a CD as part of a gift bag for our traveling companions on the April 1 sailing of the Golden Princess. Thanks, Linda
ajk-123 Posted March 15, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 15, 2006 :) Any music you're into is good cruise music. I happen to think that any Jimmy Buffett CD is great cruise music. My favorite is the live CD " Feeding Frenzy " . Good luck..... I also like a jam band called String Cheese Incident. You can find their music on the livemusic.org site.....downloads are free. Check it out Art:) :) :)

Mississippigirl Posted March 16, 2006 #6 Share Posted March 16, 2006 We spent alot of time in the piano bar on our 2nd cruise so now I associate any Elton John and Billy Joel with cruises and always put them on our cruise cd, as well as Buffett and Bob Marley.:D

dallas16 Posted March 22, 2006 #9 Share Posted March 22, 2006 I am sailing, I am sailing, Home again ’cross the sea. I am sailing, stormy waters, To be near you, to be free. I am flying, I am flying, Like a bird ’cross the sky. I am flying, passing high clouds, To be with you, to be free. Can you hear me, can you hear me Thro’ the dark night, far away, I am dying, forever trying, To be with you, who can say. Can you hear me, can you hear me, Thro’ the dark night far away. I am dying, forever trying, To be with you, who can say. We are sailing, we are sailing, Home again ’cross the sea. We are sailing stormy waters, To be near you, to be free. Oh lord, to be near you, to be free. Oh lord, to be near you, to be free, Oh lord. Rod Stewart We are Sailing

"I'm sailing away, set an open course for the virgin sea I've got to be free, free to face the life that's ahead of me On board, I'm the captain, so climb aboard We'll search for tomorrow on every shore And I'll try, oh Lord, I'll try to carry on" ~Katy

elaineb Posted April 14, 2006 #15 Share Posted April 14, 2006 Sorry - I cut and copied the list of my newest cruise CD from Excel and it came out funny. Hope you can read it! I had a little Mexico slant to it as we are doing a Western cruise this summer. :)

sirarthur Posted July 7, 2006 #17 Share Posted July 7, 2006 I'm turning 60 (like the president) and I have just discovered the IPOD. You can take your entire collection of cds, books on tape, videos, in a package not bigger than a pack of cigarrettes. WOW! I have nice compact speakers so we can listen in our cabin. Technology boggles the mind!
mseldga Posted July 7, 2006 #18 Share Posted July 7, 2006 I was just about to post this same question! All the suggestions are great - here are a few more I like - 3 of my favorite Buffett sailing songs - Tin Cup Chalice, One Particular Harbor, and Lovely Cruise and Cool Change by Little River Band. Good luck with your CD - I'm at 36 days away from my cruise and just getting started on our CD. It's a great way to pass the time and build excitement! Golf18aday Posted July 8, 2006 #19 Share Posted July 8, 2006 I have several of the songs on the previous posts on my cruise CD and iPod Cruise Playlist. Here are a couple others I have, Gilligan's Island Theme Song, My Heart Will Go On (Titanic Theme). The Celine Dion song has a special cruise significance for my wife and I. cthrn27 Posted July 11, 2006 #21 Share Posted July 11, 2006 Last time we were in Belize our guide told us that Madonna's song "La Isla Bonita" was about an island off Belize...don't know if it's true or not, but it makes me think of Belize and what I was looking at when he told us..... "last night I dreamed of San Pedro......." ;)

From a land down under Posted September 21, 2006 #25 Share Posted September 21, 2006 OK so how about some songs that are NOT appropriate for a cruise? For example: 'My heart will go on' - Celine Dion (Titanic) 'Help' - The Beatles 'Don't you forget about me' - Simple Minds (as the boat leaves & you're late from your shore excursion) 'Six months in a leaky boat' - Split Enz 'When the ship goes down you better be ready' - Cypress Hill (radio play version...)
