Area hotels and car rental from Miami port

Hi everyone,

I am flying into FLL the day before for our cruise out of Miami next month.

Is it better to stay overnight in Miami, or FFL area? Any suggestions for a hotel in the FFL that I can get a shuttle to the port

Also, I was considering getting a rental car in Miami port since our flight out of FFL isn't until 5pm, and dont want to spend all day in airport. Obviously the car return would be at FLL. Is this possible? Or any suggestions?

Thsnks!

FFL is Fairfield, Iowa.

The PortMiami is 45 or so minutes from the Ft Lauderdale area, so no hotel in Ft Lauderdale is going to shuttle you to Miami.

Where you stay depends a lot on when you arrive in FLL. Usually, transport later in the day gets more expensive, so people tend to stay in Ft Lauderdale, and shuttle or Uber/Lyft direct to the port the next day.

There are dozens of threads here on hotels in both areas. But I would first look at what hotels the shuttles commonly recommended here (QLS, SAS, GO Shuttle, Jiffy Jeff) pick up at, then consider booking at one of those.
