Rare 57eric Posted July 21, 2023 #1 Share Posted July 21, 2023 When my wife and I won't be making it to dinner, we let our table companions know the evening before so they won't be waiting for us. Once or twice, however, something came up afterward and we didn't have the opportunity to notify anyone. Is there a number we can call on QM2 to have the word passed to the wait staff, or am I overthinking this? I realize I could leave a message if we exchange cabin numbers with our table mates, but this has not been our practice.
Rare Pushpit Posted July 21, 2023 #2 Share Posted July 21, 2023 Overthinking it. Most people can see the bigger picture here. Out of courtesy you should / could say on day 1 "please don't wait for us, we aren't very reliable! But if it happens, we look forward to catching up with you on the next night". Wait staff will have seen it all before and will intuitively work around this.
Rare 57eric Posted July 21, 2023 Author #3 Share Posted July 21, 2023 Thanks Pushpit. I'll tweak your suggestion to "We are highly reliable. If we're not here by 6:08, it means we ended up with other plans, so please don't wait". 😉
Rothko1 Posted July 21, 2023 #4 Share Posted July 21, 2023 I don't think you need to comment on reliability one way or the other. Just "Please don't wait for us." is sufficient.
Rare steve4031 Posted July 22, 2023 #5 Share Posted July 22, 2023 We had fixed dining times and the tables on each side were anytime dining.
Lakesregion Posted July 22, 2023 #6 Share Posted July 22, 2023 Don't know if the current dining room staff is up to par but in the past a phone call from your cabin to the dining room desl\k was gladly relayed to your table mates.
