ScotBrit17 Posted July 26, 2023 #1 Share Posted July 26, 2023 Thinking of booking Seabourn for first time and have seen some good cruises on Ovation. Note that the V1 suites on deck 5 have a metal front rather than glass. Does anyone have experience or photos of these suites to see what the balcony looks like. I have searched online and not found anything.

We've never had one of these suites, but I don't think it would bother us. Click on the dark heading below to read the thread. We have done the GTY and have always been pleased with the resulting suite. Edited July 26, 2023 by SLSD
ScotBrit17 Posted July 26, 2023 Author #3 Share Posted July 26, 2023 Thanks so much for this, it doesn't seem much of an issue. Would have no issue with this.
imcpa Posted July 26, 2023 #4 Share Posted July 26, 2023 My wife and I were just on deck 5 on the Ovation for two weeks. We cruised the Encore in November 2022 on deck 9 for two weeks. The deck 5 railing did not bother us at all. We liked being close to the laundry and being that close to the water. We are now booked for 36 days on deck 5 on the Encore in April 2024. Mahogany Posted July 26, 2023 #6 Share Posted July 26, 2023 I guess it depends how much time you spend on your balcony. From inside the suite, I didn't notice the metal half, but sitting on the balcony, the view of the water was "cropped". But the price can certainly be a consideration. When I booked the Guaranty, I hoped for an upgrade, but no luck.

On our recent 14 day cruise, we never dined on our veranda or even sat out there together (why did we not do that--such a mistake!) but I did go out there almost every day to survey our surroundings and enjoy either a docking or a sailing up to a port. And then, there was that glorious evening (starting at 3am) when I went out to watch the sail in to the Nordfjord--something I will think about for a long time. Cannot guarantee you views like this though !🙂
