Silliegirl Posted July 27, 2023 #1 Share Posted July 27, 2023 Hi - we are 2 couples looking for 4 people (2 couples) to go on a shore excursion in Gibraltar. We wanted to do City under Siege Seabourn tour but it is sold out. There are a few companies that do a similar private tour but require a minimum of 8 people. If you are interested please let me know
shyla100 Posted July 28, 2023 #2 Share Posted July 28, 2023 Why don't you enter your request on the roll call for that cruise it might be worth a try.

If you are interested please let me know I’ve just looked at the private tours advertised by Trip Advisor. Ridiculous prices!, When we’re last there, admittedly 30 years ago, we took a taxi around all these places or used the cable car to go up the Rock and then walked. That must still be a possibility. kbnovak Posted July 28, 2023 #4 Share Posted July 28, 2023 Have you checked Viator?
Silliegirl Posted July 28, 2023 Author #5 Share Posted July 28, 2023 Yes, Victoria, Trip Advisor, Get Your Guide, Tours by Locals etc. Most tours are pretty expensive for 4 people. I think they use the same mini van. If you can get 6 or 8 people it gets reasonable
Sucellos Posted July 28, 2023 #6 Share Posted July 28, 2023 If you don't really need a guide to tell you the stories (and don't mind the walking) this is actually a port/tour that is quite doable on your own. The temperatures in October would also probably be somewhat more pleasant for walking than what we had. Last week we walked over to the cable car stop, bought (one-way) tickets for the cable car and nature reserve (can be done in advane online), took the cable car up and walked down, passing the various attractions included in this tour and finally ending up on the ship. This also enables you to walk over to St Michael's Cave which doesn't seem to be included in the Seabourn tour, which is a pity as it has beautiful stalactites and stalagmites combined with a light show. Mind also that we found the actual City Under Siege Exhibition and the Moorish Caste maybe the least interesting on the tour, but that's a personal opinion. We would at least have preferred to prioritize more time in the tunnels and St. Michael's Cave if doing it again. Cannot speak for the museum as we didn't go there. Silliegirl Posted July 28, 2023 Author #7 Share Posted July 28, 2023 Thanks - one of our group has a challenge walking long distances - which is one of the reasons why we wanted a guide with a car/minivan. I was wondering about the Moorish castle and if that was something worthwhile. Thanks for your suggestions- worst case we may end up doing some of what you suggested and take cable car up and down. Dunnedg Posted July 28, 2023 #8 Share Posted July 28, 2023 Visited a while ago. From memory there was a queue for taxis and they were encouraging people to get together in groups of 8 to clear the ranks and share the cost.

That must still be a possibility. This is still possible as per comments on the Europe ports of call board. The taxis organise vans of 8 pax where the ship docks. You have to ensure you don't get off too late or the taxis move onto other places such as the border. The other discussion is the price has now gone up and they are asking €50pp now.
