LondonLad60 Posted August 23, 2023 #1 Share Posted August 23, 2023 This isn't about a specific incident, it's just a general query. If a passenger on a Saga cruise misbehaves to the point where they are put off the ship, I assume Saga would put them on a blacklist, and they wouldn't be allowed to cruise with Saga again. I am wondering, would Saga share the miscreant's details with other cruise lines? Similarly, if a passenger is put off during a P&O (for example) cruise, would Saga be made aware of it? In this case I would have thought that such details would be shared with all Carnival lines, but what about other lines? Could there be a potential data protection issue here? No particular reason for asking - I'm just curious.
nosapphire Posted August 23, 2023 #2 Share Posted August 23, 2023 Apparently airlines are not legally allowed to tell other airlines about disruptive/banned passengers, so seems certain that cruise lines cannot do so. Just discovered that there is a Private Members bill trying to work through parliament to ban severely disruptive passengers from flying with airline for a set time (similar to banning drivers) which would be a good idea if it gets through. https://hansard.parliament.uk/commons/2023-05-24/debates/3407B285-62FE-4645-B065-17A7AD5D7DCA/AviationBanningOrders(DisruptivePassengers)
Rare Tothesunset Posted August 24, 2023 #3 Share Posted August 24, 2023 Sadly, such information-sharing, without the consent of the individual, would breach the General Data Protection Regulations.

There are exclusions to the regs such that info can be shared where doing so prevents or reduces a threat to the public. I'm not sure that would apply to disruptive cruise passengers!
