Enhanced Find a Cruise Tool - Port Filters

Greeting Cruise Critic community -

We've added new port filters to our Find a Cruise tool to help you narrow down your search for the perfect voyage. Historically we only had one port filter, to show cruises that went to a specific port. It was not an optimal tool, as the logic behind it was "OR" - so if you put in Athens, Santorini and Istanbul, you received a list of cruises that went to ANY of those three, which would be 80 results, versus cruises that went to ALL three of them on the same itinerary. We have now changed that filter to be "AND", so the same search yields just 25 results, and also added three new filters, to give you a total of four filtering options, all of which are outlined below.

Cruises That Include: This is a list of all active ports that we currently go to, and the logic applied to each selection is “AND”. Meaning if you select Athens, Santorini and Istanbul, the website will display only cruises that go to all three of those ports (25 in this example).

Cruises That Exclude: This is a list of all active ports that we currently go to, and the logic applied to each selection is “OR”. Meaning if you take the same 25 results from the above criteria, and add Alexandria and Kusadasi to this exclude filter, the website will display all cruises that go to Athens, Santorini and Istanbul, while not going to Alexandria or Kusadasi – which pairs the 25 previous results down to 13 in this example.

Cruises That Begin In: As it would suggest, this filter allows you to pick an embark port, and the logic here is “OR”. So again taking the above scenarios into account, if you want to sail from Barcelona so you choose it, the website narrows the 13 results down to just two.

Cruises That End In: Finally, and as the name implies, this allows you to select a disembark port, and also works on “OR” logic. With the scenario from above, the only two cruises that are left that match all the criteria are Barcelona to Athens and Barcelona to Istanbul, so if you select Istanbul, you are left with your one, perfect cruise that begins in Barcelona, ends in Istanbul, stops in Athens, Santorini and Istanbul while not going to Alexandria or Kusadasi.

I do hope you find this enhancement useful for finding your perfect itinerary, and welcome any future suggestions, as many of these filtering ideas came from listening to website visitor feedback - so thank you for never being afraid to share your opinions!
