Shuttle from the terminal/pier in Athens and Istanbul

Would you be so kind to share any information on the ship's shuttle service in Athens and Istanbul? Where do the shuttles take you (and whether they pick you up right at the pier)?

When we have been through Athens it has always been a change over day so transit passengers usually given an excursion. On our last cruise on the Moon only 18 transit passengers and only 2 didn't take the excursion so there was no shuttle.

It seems that we'll be on our own in Athens. 🙂 What is everyone's experience with Istanbul? Are there any shuttles there from the port to the historic center? Thanks!

InIstanbul, the port is right downtown in the middle of the city.  Don’t really need a shuttle, and I don’t think there was one provided last year when we visited.

On the Moon now in Istanbul. There is a shuttle every 30 minutes to the center of the city from the Galataport terminal on the other side of the Golden Horn. The pickup location is on a pedestrian street next to the Gate 1 of the Grand Bazaar.

"Center of the city"

 

In a huge metropolis like Istanbul, that really doesn't say much.  Are you meaning the area around Hagia Sophia, Taksim Square or any of a dozen other "centers" of activity in town?

 

Like the "center" of Manhattan.....Wall Street, Times Square, Central Park, Macy's.......

 

Personally, I just use the trams and metro to get around -- far faster than fighting through traffic in a bus or taxi.

Hmm, I thought that I was clear that the shuttle runs between the cruise terminal and the Grand Bazaar (Gate 1). Sorry if this was confusing to you!

It was clear. Great city to both wander in or focus on specifics.
