chas Posted August 31, 2023 #151 Share Posted August 31, 2023 We don't normally do an excursion in each port, and often like to just get off of the ship to walk around. Which ports would you say have good shopping and things to see within walking distance of the ship, and which have not much of anything and are better enjoyed by getting away from the port? Thanks again for all of the information and photos!

Thanks again for all of the information and photos! Sydney is definitely where I'd recommend an excursion - the others are very walkable. There are a few things in Sydney, but not as much as the others.

Ichiban Nekko Posted August 31, 2023 #155 Share Posted August 31, 2023 Thanks so much for all your descriptions and photos! So looking to board in Quebec on Sept 30th. BTW, I am still chuckling about the location services. Who knew that it is so easy to confuse Iceland with Prince Edward Island? 😆 -Cat
Rare Rubyfisch Posted August 31, 2023 Author #156 Share Posted August 31, 2023 Random musing of the morning - all of the cups, glasses, and mugs are much smaller than they seem. Particularly the coffee cups and water glasses in the lido.
Rare Rubyfisch Posted August 31, 2023 Author #157 Share Posted August 31, 2023 It's still pretty rocky. The promenade deck is closed, so everything also feels a bit more crowded. We used that as motivation to pack up some of our stuff to give us a bit more space.

Rare Rubyfisch Posted August 31, 2023 Author #159 Share Posted August 31, 2023 We went to the main dining room for lunch. It was nice, and much calmer than the Lido: Tomato and feta tart (this was amazing): Mac and cheese: Bread pudding:

Rare Ken the cruiser Posted August 31, 2023 #163 Share Posted August 31, 2023 If I might ask, have they offered any port talks on your 7-day cruise yet?

Yes - there was definitely one on Quebec City yesterday, and I think there was at least one other.

Cool! We just booked a 21-day PC cruise in April 2025 and enjoy going to those, as well as any lectures they may provide on the longer cruises. stuart815 Posted August 31, 2023 #170 Share Posted August 31, 2023 Since the ship is in Quebec Friday and Saturday, can you get off the ship and return at anytime until checkout on Saturday? We are on the same cruise September 9th. Thanks

We were on Zaandam last summer with the same ports. Bar Harbor (tender) brings you to an area with shops and restaurants nearby Halifax has a a market type building at the port and quite a bit of stuff along the water. Sydney had had a few shops where we docked by the BIG Fiddle. Charlottetown had quite a few shops and other stuff right next to the port Quebec City has plenty to see. Try Old Town Enjoy! AllTheSun Posted September 1, 2023 #174 Share Posted September 1, 2023 OP, do you (or anyone else of course!) happen to know if the kinda rough seas you’ve encountered are normal for that area of the Atlantic or is it due to Franklin?
