Boarding the Meraviglia next month in YC. Plan is to board early after ĥotel check out. Will we be able to disembark as if it were a port day or is it a case of one on, that's it for 1st day? (I know in Europe, we're able to get on as they have multi-port emparkations)

I could be wrong, but I believe in the U.S. once you're onboard for embarkation day, you have to stay onboard. If you're on a Back to Back you can enjoy the day because it is a true port day for you. Those guests are disembarked together prior to the embarkation process.

But if you're starting the cruise in the U.S. I believe you have to stay onboard once checked on to the ship. I don't believe they allow you to disembark anywhere.

Also, you wouldn't have much time. Isn't departure 4:00 on these cruises? They'll want everyone on by 2:00. At the best, you might get checked in and onboard by 10:30. If you were able to leave again, and if your intended destination is in Manhattan, you've got a cab ride ahead of you or the ferry in each direction. Now, you could drop your bags off with the porters and head back out, but even that involves some inefficiency depending on where you're staying. Are you staying in Brooklyn or Manhattan, and where do you want to go that day?

I have boarded and debarked numerous times on Embarkation Day with MSC in both Port Canaveral and South Florida. Never an issue. BUT, you will have to go back through the security line each time. Though staying in the YC, it shouldn't be bad.

Oh and not all sailings leave at 4. My upcoming sailing Oct 15th from Brooklyn departs at 7.

You could always just drop your bags with the porters at the terminal, not actually board the ship, go about your business in NYC, and then get to the terminal at the last minute (2 hours before sailaway) to go through security and get checked in. Not sure what the advantage of going through security and getting checked in would be, if you are planning to get right back off the ship and do it all over again.

This is what I would do in fact we did it in 2019 with Meraviglia
