Hunter2 Posted September 26, 2023 #1 Share Posted September 26, 2023 Has anyone gone to the Louisbourg Fortress in Low season. Can you still get in and see the fortress?
Tsi2quick Posted September 28, 2023 #2 Share Posted September 28, 2023 I'm curious as well. Based on what I read on the official government site yesterday it sounds like you can take a self guided tour in low season but that's about it. No actors to interact with or tour guides. We'll miss it by a week or so on our 10/15 sailing unfortunately. Might just stay in the port and meander about instead.

I reached out to The National Parks in NS b/c they ultimately run the Fortress and they agreed no inside tours with actors, etc but then I questioned it b/c the ship offers that as an excursion so they are checking with the staff at the fortress for me

You can't show up privately and join, but you can tour the exterior of the fort. Not worth the hour drive to me to not be able to go inside.
Tsi2quick Posted September 30, 2023 #5 Share Posted September 30, 2023 Thank you for calling them. Definitely not something I want to spend the time doing to just see the outside but good to know going through the ship you'd still get inside and a tour.
CaribbeanBound Posted October 4, 2023 #6 Share Posted October 4, 2023 We were here last month, when teh actors were still there. They DEFINATELY add to the experience, but I would still recommend a self-tour even if they aren't there. It's a very impressive site.
