Welcome to Cruise Critic!

First of all, early check in is always a facet of availability. If they have a room, and it is clean, they will let you check in. If not, they can't. Keep in mind, most of the hotels in the general port area are turning over lots of rooms every day to cruisers, and they don't need to be at the port much before 11am. They are very unlikely to keep a room from yesterday empty, waiting for you...unless you are willing to pay.

Second, almost all hotels will hold your luggage until your room is ready.

And keep in mind a hotel may want yo charge you for an extra-early arrival. You didn't exactly state what time you'd like, but I'd expect a fee for anything earlier than 1 pm. Most hotels with bell service will hold your bags until your room is available (please remember to tip).
