Help with hotels in Auckland(pre cruise) and Sydney(Post)

I just booked a cruise for Oct on HAL and their hote choices are VERY expensive. Any hotels with good location and decent pricing??

Here is a site, Tripadvisor which has lots of good info on hotels worldwide. I have used it for information in both Europe and Canada, Unfortunately the last time I was in Sydney I was there on a a 1 week R&R from Vietnam and I doubt the hotel, The Texas Tavern, still exists.

Booked the Carlton New Zealand directly through them and it was great.

Four seasons sydney booked through Princess as it was easy and ran the same ammount.
