gozzy Posted October 4, 2023 #1 Share Posted October 4, 2023 We have a cruise that ends in Ft Lauderdale and are thinking about taking another that leaves the same day at 4pm. Thinking about renting a car and driving just worried any hiccup between a late disembarkment or a accident on the way over. Any other suggestions would be appreciated . FOPMan Posted October 4, 2023 #2 Share Posted October 4, 2023 That transfer is not a particularly good idea. You also need to factor in time to pickup/drop-off the rental car, and assume the car you reserved is available at the time reserved and there's no backlog. JohninDC Posted October 5, 2023 #3 Share Posted October 5, 2023 Drive from FLL to Tampa is about 5 hours - if you are off the ship, in a rental and on the road by 9:00 that gets you to Tampa about 2:00. Time enough to drop off the car and get to the port? It can be done but you are cutting it close. I would find another second cruise, but it is your call. Corby114 Posted October 5, 2023 #4 Share Posted October 5, 2023 I would be stressed out driving five hours from Port Everglades to Tampa regarding a same day sailing. Try finding a same day sailing out of either the Port of Miami or Port Everglades. Definitely less stressful and less aggravating.
gozzy Posted October 5, 2023 Author #5 Share Posted October 5, 2023 Thanks for everyone's input. We have decided that it's not worth the stress of trying to make it to Tampa in time for the second cruise. We will look at other options on the East Coast ports of Florida.
