Car rental Frederiksted

I thought I'd posted a response to something about car rental in Frederiksted but can't find it.  So, I'll start a new thread.

Car rental Frederiksted:  I will be in port late next March and, having spent two holidays of one week plus each, and having rented a car for part of those stays, I prefer to explore St. Croix with my traveling companion who's my daughter rather than take a ship's excursion.  So...

1.  Will we need to take a taxi over to the airport to pick up a rental car?  Or...

2.  Do any of the rental companies bring a car over to the Port?

I'm willing to do either, but it would certainly be nice to have a car waiting when we get off the ship.

Thank you for any information about this.

Unless you are very comfortable driving a left-hand drive car in left hand lane traffic, my advice is take a taxi.   In the USVI we drive on the Left side of the road, and the overwhelming majority of vehicles are what Americans would consider "normal" left hand models.  I have never seen a right-hand drive rental car.  You, as the driver will be next to the curb, and your front seat passenger will be next to the centerline.

I know you probably did this but we rented a car in St. Croix and yes, we did take a cab to the airport.  St. Croix is EXTREMELY easy to drive around.  It is one port where any time we return if we are doing hiking or snorkeling from shore, we will definitely explore this island as it is beautiful.  We thought about a day pass our 1st time but opted for the car.
