Thanks for the great reviews. Do you recall what time the fish and chips opened everyday? Was it only open for a few hours a day?

The Capers is done very nicely now, there is a section you can tear off and keep in your pocket that has all the times.

Lido Lunch 12:00 - 3:30pm that includes Fish & Chips and The Oriental.

Hi Fred,

Sorry we missed you on board. By the time we got into our rooms (2 rooms, 5 of us) and did the muster drill, you and the rest must have escaped to a different area. As with you, we had a great time, weather other than the last day (54 in Miami when we docked at 5:30am) was great.

One thing I wanted to ask. Thursday evening around 10:30 pm there was an announcment "code bright star in cabin 6336". At that point, every officer in site went running. We never did figure out what happened. We ran into a lady that said everyone in the cabin was lined up outside in the hall and a body bag was brought out, but that was never confirmed (more than likely just a rumor). If anyone knows what "code bright star" is, please fill us in.

For some reason, I really find your postings much more enjoyable that any other posting I have ever read. For some reason your degree of detail is really entertaining to me. I have never waited so much in anticipation for pictures of fish & chips before. Keep the photos coming.

I will be on the Valor in on Sunday, April 2. My wife an I were supposed to be on the Princess Star before the fire (by the way, while you were gone, the Princess Star caught on fire). I am looking forward to the stops on the Valor more than those of the Star.

Keep up the posts.

Dave

The actual story we heard was that there had been a big fight between the two folks (husband and wife) in the cabin. It had been called in by numerous folks in the area. The folks lined up outside the cabin may have been just lookie looes. The woman we talked to said the wife was the one brought out in the body bag.

As stories go, it could or could not have happened. All I know is no one (crew) would talk about it, and I did hear the bright star announcement. You would think that if it were anything other than a medical emergency, it would have been all over the news by now.

We also were on the Valor 3/19 cruise and also by the time we got to the back of the lido deck we could not tell if there was a cruisecritic group or not- we ALSO heard the star bright call and were told by a dealer in the casino that there had been a murder on board- no one else would talk about it just like you said above- I guess we will never know the real or true story- we did not see anything- we were on deck 7

Molly,

You are the second person to use the word murder. That is what the lady said to us also. We were on the 7th deck also, and by the time we went down to check it out, they had cleared the area. We had also heard that the husband was taken away in cuffs. By the time it happened, we were miles away from Belize, so my guess, is if it did happen, things were confined until returning to Miami.

Fred,

What a great review of the Valor. I'm going on 4/16. I am curious if you tried any of the other fish dishes on the menu. They all look delicious. What do you know about the "Code" on the valor. I'm staying very close to that room!!!

Operation Bright Star was called around 10:15pm that night, the annoucement came over the Loud speakers thoughtout the ship but not in the State Room. It went like this "Ding Dong, Attention Operation Bright Star ####" (#### was the cabin number). They only called it once. I figured it was some type of Code Blue in that cabin, usually a heart attack, the very next day I asked a waiter on Lido Deck and he looked at me with a puzzled face as if I shouldnt know those terms or codes, he didnt quite answer me and another passenger walking by with her Fish & Chips in tow said it was a Medical Emergency as she passed by.

Quote: Dinner went very well, I took pictures of Elena and Babalito our waiters

Our waiter on the Victory in August was Babalito...I will be anxious to see if your Babalito is "our" Babalito. Our three sons (aged 17 to 24) all called him "Fun Bobby" for the week. He was very good to see that they had plenty to eat!!:)

Its probably him, Babalito and Elena were the best Waiter team I have ever met. They were good, fast and very friendly.

Fred, Thank you so much for the pictures and review. It is weird how I also looked forward to seeing pictures of fish and chips LOL! I'm trying to lose some weight before our cruise in June and I'm hungry - those photos didn't help but I couldn't help looking anyways. Was it as good as it looks? My DH and I grew up in San Diego, we moved 11 years back. We lived in Chula Vista. What area are you from? We miss the beauitful weather.

We live very close to Chula Vista, in Imperial Beach, we love it here.

Fred, like many others I’d like to thank you for all of the great info and pics you have provided us with so far. It seems like every time I check the boards you have more pictures and information posted and your mini-reviews have been great. As a future cruiser on the Valor your threads have been very helpful and we have really enjoyed being able to enjoy a cruise through your words and pictures.

I am so thrilled to have read your review. We booked the Valor b/c we got such a great deal, but didn't know anything about the ship ... I tried to get us into the same cabin that you were in, but both of them were already sold. I am going to try back occasionally to see if the cabin opens up - hoping the person who has it booked backs out when final payment is due. Otherwise we have a guar cat 4a.
