One of Those Days – aka, I Need a Cruise

You know I'm surprised that no one has challenged me on my harvesting bromeliads from our bromeliad tree, what no gardeners out there?

We have broms (among other things) but they are looked after by a neighbour who owns a nursery, so I freely admit I know what I'm looking at (kinda) but am definitely not a gardener.

I only know what a bromiliad is due to Terry Pratchets books, other than that I was born with blue thumbs.

I use to read his books, but I can't remember references to bromeliads.

I'm not much of a gardener either, my Idea of gardening is with a machete.😆

Hil keeps a strong leash on me when we get out in the garden.

Oh, wow!!!!!!!! Also wish my lawn looked as good as yours. However, a certain labrador kills off patches when she toilets. Small price to pay for the pleasure of having a chocolate angel in the family.

We are currently looking after a cuddleboodle or some such thing, called happy, a big bouncing clown of a thing, belongs to one of our daughters. He's being taught you don't dig holes.😡

When I growl at him, his big eyes go "Hole? what hole", then goes can we play can we play.🤷‍♂️

Awww, know all about those big brown eyes. Her ladyship only dug one hole when she was a pup. A very knowledgeable guy told me to put her poop in the hole and that would deter her. Did the trick immediately and she never dug again.

BTW, my girl's name means 'happy and cheerful' (sums up a Lab's personality). You would be familiar with it as someone very close to you has the same name, though our's is spelt with two l's 🙂

The two LL is the American spell, as against the English spelling.

But the US never has been able to spell, they seem to have gone out of their way to mess up my already inability to spell correctly. All I can say is thank god for the spell checker with a real English dictionary.

By the way that's a great tip re the holes thing, will definitely try that.

The tree by the way started out very innocently, with Hil planting three bromeliads at the bottom, about ten years ago.

We turned around one day, and suddenly it was looking down at us.

I have to keep going around it every so often to pluck all the dried bits, to stop it looking as ugly as.😬

Just for you been down and took a photo a section of a curved bit.

Haven't been able to trim the grass, as the fresh laid dirt would be whipped up as well.

He looks just like a dog, one of my other daughters has. I think that ones called a Groodle.

What is it these days with dogs, in my day if a dog was cross bred you called it a mongrel or a bitsa and they weren't worth much.

Now they give them fancy names and charge a fortune for them.

Must admit they great dogs anyway.

I think Teddy is a cavoodle (or caboodle???) and he’s 18 months old. He’s just the most affectionate dog I’ve ever known.

our beloved corgi, Milly, just couldn’t last any long when we moved to a fifty plus community 3 years ago 🥺

Sorry read the previous message one wrong, I thought she was your current pet.

Pet never seems the right word, as their more than that, that's why we miss them so much when their gone.

Absolutely true.

people kept asking if we’d get another but we said no, especially broke Franks heart as she was absolutely his girl!

he said he couldn’t go through it again!

I then reminded him that we both lost our beloved spouses to cancer within three months of each other (though we hadn’t met as he lived in South Africa). and what happened! We fell in love and got married! And unless we can plan to go to heaven at the same time, we will have the parting pain all over again!!!

so I said we can’t ever say we won’t again!
in the meantime we love our “granddogs” 😁😁😁

So feel the same, especially with Frank, lost Leah about 10 years ago, still miss her. she was with me through some of the toughest time in my life. we were great mates, she seemed to sense how I was feeling, and just snuggle up to me when I needed it.
