southend Posted January 25 #76 Share Posted January 25 terry, if you look in bookings , then booking details you will see hotel allocation, and transfers from hotel to ship. definitely back to "sound of silence", I have reread the official notification, ""and follow up separately closer to your arrival date with the exciting selection of destination experiences that will be made available to you during your stay in Mumbai"". There is nothing about onboard excursions.

Very strange and puzzling. That's "our" Mumbai to Singapore cruise and supposedly all cabin levels are now open and available for bookings. But starting on the 15th and in Cochin???? How will that work out for those of us already booked and paid? Lots of serious questions from Silversea and their Simon & Garfunkel game with the "Sounds of Silence" getting rather old and extremely frustrating. THANKS! Enjoy???? Rare TLCOhio Posted January 26 #79 Share Posted January 26 BUT, when you try to move ahead and start a booking, this message pops up on the screen, this shows: Maybe a goof by the web department at Silversea? THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio
Rare TLCOhio Posted January 26 #80 Share Posted January 26 Need "Good News"? The Silver Moon is now traveling at a speed of 17.2 knots and seems on track to arrive in Cape Town on Feb. 2. The other blue ship symbol is the Silver Spirit now sailing around in South Africa. Update from www.cruisemapper.com THANKS! Enjoy! Rare TLCOhio Posted January 26 #81 Share Posted January 26 Here are a couple of added reactions for what is happening (or not) with the Silversea management in posting such a Cochin to Singapore sailing options. Is it??: Red herring by inept or free-lancing SS web people? Or, a back-up plan, if and if? But, flying and moving 500+ booked/paid people from Mumbai to Cochin would involve serious logistical challenges. Plus, dealing with the anger and huge disappointment from those of us who did not sign up for this type of mismanagement. Silversea can easily make Mumbai by early on the 14th. Just crank up the sailing speed to 18 or 19 knots. Cheaper to spend more on the added fuel required than dealing with such a major scheduling change/flip-flop? Plus, continuing to look bad by not providing better communications and honesty with Silversea loyal customers? Other theories or speculation? Fair or unfair? THANKS! Enjoy! Rare drron29 Posted January 26 #83 Share Posted January 26 The first Moon cruise showing on the Australian site is Singapore to Hong Kong but it is waitlist only. I think the Cochin cruise is a backup but backup for what. Could it be they anticipate cancellations on the Mumbai cruise -note Australians can force a full refund under our consumer laws but it would take some time. But is it a back up in case the Moon can't make it to Mumbai on time. In which case a lot more cancellations would probably occur as they officially cancelled the Mumbai cruise. pandawil Posted January 27 #84 Share Posted January 27 I think they will struggle to sell the Mumbai to Singapore cruise given the late departure out of Mumbai. I think the Cochin option has been added to attract customers to this journey and try and build capacity.
Rare TLCOhio Posted January 27 #85 Share Posted January 27 From this side of the Atlantic, still no communications received as of 8 am Saturday from Silversea by email as had happened originally on Tuesday afternoon. BUT, slightly good, is that three of our tours booked for Thailand and Malaysia have been restored on our My Silversea website. The probably "mistake" Cochin-Singapore cruise is still there, but nothing can be booked. We here remain "hopeful" and look forward early next week to receiving some tangible details as we fly Feb. 4 to Delhi to start our privately-arranged "Golden Triangle" touring. Still flying Air India from Jaipur to Mumbai on the afternoon of Feb. 11 with our transportation arranged to take us to the Taj Mahal Palace hotel. As per www.cruisemapper.com this morning, below is the position of the Silver Moon. Good news? The ship's speed is up 19 knots as it works towards its 6 am Feb. 2 arrival in Cape Town. THANKS! Enjoy! Downunder55 Posted January 29 Author #88 Share Posted January 29 Looks like the Silver Moon is likely ahead of the 6am 2nd Feb arrival schedule for Cape Town .... if my calcs are correct Based on current position at 18 kts with 1,202 nm to go needs approx. 2 days 19 hours, this should see the Moon in Cape Town around 6pm on the 1st Feb .... even reducing the speed to 17kts would only add 3 hours to this
Downunder55 Posted January 31 Author #89 Share Posted January 31 Looking like an arrival on the 1st Feb around 9pm is possible, pending and port delays in docking
