Trips on Caribbean cruise with kids

Hi Everyone

Just thinking about trips for a cruise in December on Brittania around Antigua, St Maarten, St Lucia, St Vincent amongst others. Anyone recommend any trips with kids aged 3 and 14?

Is it better to book with the ship or try and find something separately?

Many Thanks

Take snorkelling gear for 14 year old, and a set for yourself, if they like swimming of course. Easy to do from most beaches, no need for pro trip, some beaches better for coral and fish than others. Beach toys for little ones, you don’t see that many around ports. Some beaches have inflatables to use, trampolines, rib rides and jet skis to hire.

When we  traveled with our kids we took them to Dickinson Bay on Antigua

To see planes at Maho beach on St Maarten

To see Pirates of Caribbean film set on St Vincents

To see Pitons  and drive in volcano on catermaran trip with snorkelling

You’ll see in excursion from ship there’s a load of things you can do, but you’d be best judge of what you want a 3 year old to do, or won’t bore a 14 year old😆. Our kids were 6 & 9 when we did our first Caribbean cruise and lapped it up. You may not get them out of the kids club!

Obviously ships excursions going to be more expensive and everything is available from taxi drivers waiting at port whether it be island tours or beach shuttles.  Depends on how comfortable you are going your own way. Caribbean ports are great to get round on your own and most are incredibly friendly and helpful.

Loads of info on Ports of Call for you to get idea of prices of taxi etc. Ship App also a good place to look.

Definitely Maho Beach from St Maarten. There are lots of mini buses in the port to shuttle you there and back. The 14 year old will love it there. The 3 year old probably will as well once you've explained what's happening!!

Hopefully they will love the kids club

I would just go to local beaches with them with taxis

Boatyard Beach in Barbados has water inflatables and a rope swing into the sea the 14 year old will enjoy and jet skis

Boatyard is very crowded (too popular) and quite expensive to get in ($25 last time I was there). Need to get there early before it fills up. There are cheaper and less crowded places along that beach though.

  • 2 weeks later...

Last week the Boatyard was $35 each including 1 welcome drink, use of the inflatable slide and a boat trip for snorkelling.

As we knew we wouldn’t use all that, we went next door to Live Lobster and paid $15 dollars for 2 sunbeds, 1 umbrella, 3 drinks between us (rum punch or soft), free WiFi and the use of some lovely toilets.

Harbour Lights is good too. Same beach but cheaper and quieter.
