Juneau hesitation and recommendations

Hi all,

 

We are going to do a Princess Alaska cruise and do not see any princess excursions that stand out.

 

Has anyone done any princess vs non princess tours in Juneau?  Has anyone done the Harv and Marv whale watching tour?  If so, how does it compare to the Princess offered whale watching tours and other non Princess tours in Alaska?

 

Are there any Princess or non Princess tours in Juneau that are the most highly acclaimed and rated?

My wife and I did Harv and Marv back in 2011 and it was fantastic.  I have booked them for 2024 as we are heading back to Alaska.

 

They are very popular on this board from what I have seen.  Also, there is another boat but I cannot remember the name.  

 

I loved it as it was a boat of 6 people.  Not some catamaran with my closest 150 friends.   

 

But you can search Juneau Whale Watching and find many discussions on it.

Thanks so much.  Does anyone know if there a really good whale watching tour in Juneau coupled with a good salmon bake?

once in a lifetime tour.... Taku 5 Glacier seaplane and salmon dinner... pricey but the best excursion we have taken on our 45 cruise history.

I am sure that you know that there no "Princess Tours" anywhere but only tours that are hired by Princess.  Therefore usually any tour that Princess sell you can be bought directly from the tour company often at a lower price.  In a direct answer to your question we have taken the same Princess whale watching tour twice on AK cruises.  The one we took involved a Glacier walk and a boat tour on a boat that held only about 12 people.  The guides both times we did the tour were excellent and the most recent guide was one of the best guides we have ever had on any tour anywhere.
