HAL knows that not all of its passengers have a smartphone, tablet or laptop. 

Even though passengers can get news on TV, I always liked taking the newspaper when I went to breakfast. 

Yes again, and we are among those without a smartphone or a tablet to bring on a cruise.

We always enjoyed running a black marking pen through the parts of the NYT onboard daily, when they crossed the line between news and highly biased opinion. More fun than Suduko, and often left us with a totally redacted pages. Glad to see it go. It was a very poor choice for general readership.
