Australian Cruiser2 Posted March 26 #1 Share Posted March 26 My daughter is going on a cruise with her boyfriend's family from Sydney Australia to the Pacific. She will be 17 and we'll have to complete a minor consent form. The Royal Caribbean websites states that the form needs to be witnessed by a notary. Is this the US version of an Australian Justice of the Peace? A notary in Australia is a specialist solicitor who charges around $300 to witness a signature, while a Justice of the Peace is free. I am also happy to get someone I know who a solicitor is to sign the form; I just don't know if she will be refused at boarding if the signatory is not a notary. Please respond if you have had experience with this recently leaving from Australia on Royal Caribbean
ldubs Posted March 26 #2 Share Posted March 26 (edited) I did a little Googling. The letter of consent I see applicable to cruises departing from Australia has wording that would allow witnessing by a Justice of the Peace. However, I would still be cautious and perhaps confirm with RCI.
